Ainzón Grenache

Impressions of the processor: This is a medium-bodied wine, with aromas of red fruits, violets and a mineral background. Tasty in the mouth, with a long finish enriched by its excellent freshness.

Elaboration: 50 % Whole bunches and 50 % destemmed and crushed grapes, spontaneous fermentation. Aged for 7 months in 600 litre French oak barrels and second use, and six months in concrete tanks.

Characteristics of the agricultural year 2018-2019:

The 2019 harvest in Ainzón recovered production after the very short harvest of 2018. Rainfall in winter and spring was generous for what we are used to (+530 l/m2). Excellent flowering, fruit set, and good weather in summer and autumn. It began with a mild and dry winter until mid-January when the heavy rains began. Spring also continued with a very abundant rainfall regime until April. Spring was a rather mild season, with moderate temperatures and a "cierzo" wind, which blew gently and gusty until well into the summer. The flowering was very homogeneous, resulting in a very abundant fruit set. The summer was dry and less hot than the previous year, with practically no rainfall since the end of June, except for a few thunderstorms in August, which allowed for a slow and satisfactory ripening.
